 David Ben-David was born to an ultra-orthodox
family in Czechoslovakia and later immigrated to Palestine.
In 1941 he volunteered for
service in the British Army and joined the Jewish Brigade at its formation in 1944.
When he returned to his home
village after the war to search for relatives, only one of twenty-four family members had
survived. His experiences are vividly described in his book, Bridge over Abyss.
Today David Ben-David lives in
Israel with his wife, Adinah.
