Shaul Ramati
was born in 1924 in Warsaw, Poland, and educated at Oxford University.
During the war he served
in the British Army as Captain of the Gordon Highlanders, and was attached to the Jewish
Brigade Group for one year. In 1948 he immigrated to Israel and joined the Israeli Defense
Forces as a Company Commander.
From 1959-1983 he served in
various diplomatic positions, including Ambassador to Japan and Brazil. He has lectured
extensively throughout the world, and is currently Research Fellow at the Truman Institute
for Peace, Hebrew University.
