 General "Zarro" (Meir Zorea) fought
with the Brigade as a young infantry soldier at the Senio River.
After the war, he was a part
of the underground Brigade vengeance squad that found and executed Nazi officers and
collaborators in the area. He stole tons of arms in Europe and smuggled them back to
Palestine for use in the War of Independence.
In the Six Day War, he sent
his tank forces racing down the Sinai coast to capture Sharm el Sheikh, then took command
of the Northern Front for the assault on the Golan Heights. Still later, he was part of the
contingent that brought Adolph Eichmann back to Israel to stand trial.
Meir Zorea died shortly after
being interviewed and filmed for IN OUR OWN HANDS.
